Shiraz, red dark

Origin

The Shiraz city is the capital of the Iranian province of Shiraz and is located in the southwest of Iran. The rugs were originally made in this region by Nomads people who lived in the area. Most of them are now settled in smaller villages in the province.

The pattern of the so-called Shiraz rugs consists of motifs that are typical for nomads t simple geometric figures and diamonds in the middle of the carpet. The background is often red and the motifs are in different shades of blue. Occasionally, rugs with stylized flowers and bird motifs are also knotted.

The Shiraz rug are traditional farmer's carpets and are therefore very robust and of extremely solid quality.

material

The pile of this Shiraz was made of high quality Virgin wool hand-knotted. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. Virgin wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties: Due to the natural fat content of the wool, the surface repels water droplets and is therefore naturally impregnated against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on the living climate and dampens sound.
