Lori rugs are a finer variant of the Gabbeh, which was traditionally knotted by the Lurs. The Lurs are a tribe in southwestern Persia, also known as Loristan. Lori also Luri rugs are also called Loribaft designated. The additional syllable “baft” means “tied”. Translated, Loribaft means Luren weaving.
