Origin
Lori carpets are a finer variant of the gabbeh traditionally knotted by the Lurs. The Lurs are a tribe in southwest Persia (also Loristan). Lori (also Luri) carpets are also called loribaft designated. The additional syllable "baft" means something like "tied". Translated, Loribaft means Luren knotting.
Lori carpets traditionally have imaginative geometric designs that are colorfully designed. Modern lori today are mostly designed more simply with monochrome designs. However, there are still traditional, stylized and geometric motifs from the everyday life of the nomads, such as goats, camels, dogs, plants or people. The geometric pattern and the friendly colors create a pleasant, warm living atmosphere.
Pattern
The pile is monochrome in rust red. The simple design is reserved, but can also set a great creative accent. The monochrome The appearance of this rug blends in perfectly with any environment.
The surface of this loris works mottled. The color changes and light-dark shades of the pile yarn allow the colors to shimmer and make the carpet insensitive to soiling. The carpet appears livelier due to these so-called jumps in colour. The mottle is created because the wool of this Lori was hand-spun. When dyeing, the natural dyes are absorbed differently.
The round format of this hand-knotted Loris is very rare and is ideal for rooms with a round dining or living room table, for example.
material
This hand-knotted Lori rug has a dense, relatively high pile. The sheep wool, which is used for the pile of the Lori rugs, is special high quality and fatty. Lori rugs are very comfortable and hard-wearing. Traditionally, Lori rugs, like the Gabbeh, were used for sleeping. They invite you to sit and lounge around in the living room, but are also ideal for passageways and in the dining area. The pile of the Lori rugs s sheep wool is dyed with natural colors and handspun. This gives the lories their soft surface. Handspun wool is always somewhat irregular. When dyeing, the natural dyes are absorbed differently. The carpet looks livelier, there are so-called color jumps Abrasch, i.e. light-dark color shades. The color changes in the pile yarn always run transversely to the longitudinal direction of the loris and make the carpet insensitive to soiling. The weft and warp threads of this loris consist of Cotton. The versatile material is tear-resistant and stretchy and therefore particularly suitable for a hard-wearing base fabric.
