Bright colors and simple, geometric patterns will do the trick kilims loved all over the world. kilims (also Kilim, Qilim) were traditionally only made for personal use. Nomads and farmers used and still use their kilims as carpets on the floor, but also as tent or wall hangings, blankets, cushions or bags. Because kilims were constant companions in everyday life, the patterns, no matter how naïve, always carry a personal message and have meaning for the weavers and their families. .

Pattern

The linear stripes of this kilim organize and structure the pattern.

The tracks of this kilim were woven on narrow looms and then sewn together to create the desired size.

The surface of this kilim works mottled. The color changes and light-dark shades of the pile yarn run across the length of the carpet, allowing the colors to shimmer and making the carpet insensitive to soiling. The carpet appears livelier due to these so-called jumps in colour. The mottle is created because the wool of this kilim was hand-spun. When dyeing, the natural dyes are absorbed differently.

The background of this kilim is blue-grey.

The weft threads of this kilim rug consist of Handspun sheep's wool dyed with vegetable dyes. Before the carpet was woven, sheep were first shorn and the wool was then cleaned, combed and finally spun. After spinning, the wool of the kilim rugs is dyed with natural colors in a complex process. Because of this traditional process, the pile of the kilim rugs appears dry and slightly furry.
